Out With New, Back In With Oldish

February & March have been some eventful months with work added to the mix. But, without going into detail, let's just say it has been a rollercoaster with good high moments and low moments I won't dive into. Still, on top of the life's responsibilities, I still struggle with procrastination, and have made some progress with the "Last of Us" project, had a somber realization, and a little more.

Starting off with the "Last of Us" practice project. Here's what I've got going there.

I didn't break down what I went through to try and practice these drawings, and that's what I'll try for now. Starting with...

…this face. I was trying to merge the clathrus ruber fungus (red one on the right) as some sheet of armor that took the place of the ears, mouth, and everything below the mouth. To keep the idea of blind infected, I thought the cordyceps militaris growing from there would be an interesting way to show it. Since it's nose isn't damaged in this, maybe it could be a hunter with enhanced smell. Perhaps tough in the face since the clathrus was supposed to be that.

A problem I felt, however, was that I don't have much experience with drawing fungus (or many things right now) so I though I would practice with some drawings of them. Which led to these.

These were nice to me and I kind of enjoyed drawing them...but I began to feel like I was spreading myself thin. Along with these concept artist practice projects, I'm also working on a mod for Minecraft (which I'm drawing concept art to work with) and 2 webtoons (both original that I want to create concept art for...along with the actual panels). Unfortunately, while I was spending time practicing and developing the concept for these projects, I wasn't focusing on those. On top of that, 1 project was related to a realm I run and informed could expect modded stuff to enter our world and the other has a storywriter on it who will be creating the story I draw the panels for. So I had my choice and I decided I'd focus on those projects with people already watching for my progress.

So now I'm working and developing the concept art for 2 out of the 3 projects since the third one is gonna wait till I can rework the story for it. I can develop my skills and work on the concept of those 2 projects so my time and progress is spent, in my opinion, more wisely. I still have my procrastination to deal with, but these are the projects I can use to help me discipline myself make that problem nonexistent (or close). So far, here's some of the artwork for that. I'll just give a title and description for these.

Minecraft Harbor

- A project my wife and I were doing, was building a harbor on minecraft. While we used a tutorial to get us started with some of the buildings, it stopped and we had at least half, if not more, of the harbor to finish and design. So here I go, making maps, thinking about the crane for loading cargo from a big ship, stair appearance, and the little houses for residents who live near the pier.

Webtoon Project

Here are some of my practice pieces, including trying to think about what the antagonist is gonna look like. There are some props I tried to draw as well. But this is as far as I got with it for now.

And that's all for the month of February and March. I'm hoping and working to put pencil and digital pen to paper and screen more often. But here's to me getting myself into gear. With these projects and worlds to create, I will be dividing my free time between drawing, coding (for the mod), and building ( for minecraft) but I still really want to get share the drawing progress I make with you guys.

Also, we had an unfortunate event. My wife's moped had been stolen and damaged in the theft. We got it back, but after it had been impounded.
