Week #02: Humbling Realizations

After spending this week working on ideas for the Last of us project, I have come to my humbling conclusion. Remember how I put deadlines in my previous post? Well those deadlines don't mean anything. Because I mostly draw for about an hour or less (sometimes not at all) each day, I can't gauge my overall pace to ensure I meet these deadlines without rushing and pushing into time saved for other things. Moving forward, here's what I've done so far.

So after working on these thumbnails I decided the very bottom-right one (I should've numbered them) is the one I will work on for the full image. I'm still figuring out what would fit direction of the project for the enemies.

So, here's the project and the direction for the Last of Us:

I'm pretending I've been tasked with a side mission that is supposed to have a variant of the infected. I decided to make a side mission where Joel and Ellie came across a lab on their way to the Fireflies in the Capital. They were forced into the area after trying to siphon some fuel for their vehicle and they had to enter the lab and find another exit that can lead them back to their vehicle. Worldbuilding-wise, this lab was researching a vaccine for the cordyceps and had been studying and manipulating different cordyceps fungi to try and understand how the cordyceps virus worked. A contamination breach happened between the cordyceps virus and a fungus that was like a nutrient boost for the cordyceps and from there, starting with the lab assistants to the guards, the place was overrun by the cordyceps virus, with the boosting effects of another cordyceps fungi's spores strengthening it.

Hopefully that gives an idea for all (including myself) who read this blog on how I'm trying to do this project. I'm fully that my skills aren't up to par and my time limit makes it a "double no-go", but I will finish this project and let it show my improvement and be a reference point as I improve among the years. Hopefully only 1 year, but I'll accept how I'm able to improve.
